Qualcomm has now confirmed that the new 4nm octa-core chipset is coming to India. The Poco F6 5G will be the first phone in the country to use a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC for its core processing units.
The latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset from Qualcomm, which includes several on-device artificial intelligence capabilities, was announced in March. The Poco F-series smartphone will be launched on May 23 and it would exclusively retail through Flipkart.
According to Poco’s and Qualcomm’s statement released on Tuesday (May 14), the Poco F6 5G will be an initial gadget in India operated by Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset.
Motorola, Xiaomi, and Realme have already unveiled smartphones containing Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset in other countries outside India. This particular chipset powers Realme GT Neo6, Redmi Turbo3, Motorola Edge50 Ultra, iQoo Z9 Turbo as well as Xiaomi Civi4 Pro.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 features
Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC is equipped with a primary core that has a clock speed that can go up to 3.0GHz, four performance cores clocked at up to 2.8GHz, and three power-efficient cores running at 2.0GHz packaged in an octa-core architecture of 4nm size.
It consists also of an Adreno GPU which promotes the experience of HDR games with immersive real-time hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
Additionally, this chipset supports LPDDR5x memory that can offer speeds of up to 4200MHz for a maximum capacity of 24GB and UFS storage for multitasking smoothly without any hitches or delays in accessing data files stored on it.
This includes over thirty generative AI models found on the device such as Llama II, Gemini nano, and Baichuan-7B that make it possible for smart functionalities to be achieved.

In India, the Poco F6 60 Hz is expected to be the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3’s pioneer phone. The device will be launched on May 23, and this is being tipped to offer unrivaled performance and connectivity for users.
Though there are not a lot of details available yet, Poco F6 5G will likely be nothing more than a rebranded Redmi Turbo 3 with some exclusive features such as an OLED panel measuring 6.7 inches diagonally, a dual-camera system and a powerful battery amounting to 5000mAh supporting fast charging at 90W.
The introduction of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset in India is a significant milestone in mobile technology.
