The smartphone company Samsung is preparing to expand its innovative foldable smartphone lineup with an exciting new addition: Samsung’s Trifold Phone.
This cutting-edge device, expected to debut in 2025, will feature a display that folds twice, marking a significant advancement in smartphone technology.
Components for this tri-fold device are reportedly ready for production, but the final approval will depend on the Samsung Mobile eXperience team led by TM Roh.
Samsung’s Trifold Phone: A Global First?
Currently, the only tri-fold smartphone available is Huawei’s Mate XT, and it’s exclusive to the Chinese market. If Samsung decides to launch this tri-fold globally, it would be the first of its kind available worldwide.
This innovative device would offer users a large, tablet-like screen that can fold down into a compact phone. Such flexibility would make it ideal for multitasking, entertainment, and productivity on the go.

Power and Performance
Samsung is expected to power its new tri-fold with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which promises to elevate the phone’s multitasking capabilities.
This processor offers a 40% improvement in GPU performance and a 35% enhancement in ray tracing compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that powers the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Additionally, the Snapdragon 8 Elite provides a 44% boost in power efficiency, making it perfect for resource-intensive tasks like gaming and high-level productivity.
An upgraded NPU (Neural Processing Unit) with a 45% increase in AI capabilities is also expected, enabling more advanced AI-driven features within the Galaxy ecosystem.
This will make Samsung’s Trifold Phone a powerhouse for both work and entertainment, offering smoother performance, faster processing, and intelligent software support.

Camera Setup
While performance is set to get a significant upgrade, the tri-fold’s camera system may not see drastic changes. Due to the need for a slimmer form factor, the camera setup will likely resemble that of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. This means users can expect a high-quality, multi-lens system with the following specs:
- Main Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, 23mm (wide), dual pixel PDAF, OIS
- Telephoto Lens: 10 MP, f/2.4, 66mm, PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom
- Ultrawide Lens: 12 MP, f/2.2, 123˚, 12mm
Although not revolutionary in terms of camera technology, these specs will still offer excellent photography and video capabilities for a variety of shooting conditions.
