Surprisingly, yesterday Google finally introduced the Google Pixel 8a smartphone just a few hours after Apple’s ‘Let Loose’ event.
It had been predicted earlier that the phone was to be launched during Google I/O event that was planned for May 14th.
However, it happened a week before the scheduled date of the event and is being referred to as an “AI phone” because it has several advanced features such as those seen on the Pixel 8 series, and is priced very affordably. Find out what users should expect from Pixel 8a.
Google Pixel 8a price in India, availability
Globally, Google Pixel 8a will come with either 128 GB or 256 GB storage choice. Likewise, both these storage options have stuck to having 8GB of RAM.
Moreover, this smartphone will also be available in two other options in India where its prices are Rs 52,999 for the 128GB variant and Rs 59,999 for the 256GB version.
The four Aloe, Bay, Obsidian, and Porcelain colorways will also be available in this type of handset. Flipkart started pre-orders now with sales opening at 6:30 AM on May 14.
Google is also providing bank offers of Rs 4,000 off and twelve-month no-cost EMI on select bank cards. Its pre-orderers may also grab the Pixel Buds A-series at only Rs.999.
Google Pixel 8a specifications
The appearance of the renewed model is based on glass (screen), polycarbonate (rear panels), and aluminum (frame). Like in its two successors, this design still retains IP67 certification from Pixel 7a. The smartphone measures 152.1mm x 72.7mm x 8.9mm and weighs 188 grams.
On the other hand, the new shape and some rounding make it a flat screen that measures up to six-point-one inches diagonally with an Actua Super Display as claimed by the brand, which also makes it the A-series first ever device to have one.
Nevertheless, this OLED display now operates at a higher refresh rate of 120Hz compared to the Pixel 7a’s refresh rate which was set at 90Hz. This screen, like the previous model is sheltered by Corning Gorilla Glass3.
For instance, similar to last year, there is now an improved SoC for the Google Pixel 8a mentioned with Titan M2 security coprocessor and many other features for a level not possible earlier on A-series due to absence of Tensor G2 anywhere outside Magic Editor or Best Take for Circle Search to AI Image Editing plus Audio Magic Eraser among others such as LPDDR5x RAM equipped phone having capacity upto UFS3.1 space for up to about one hundred sixty gigabytes.
AI assisted features on Google Pixel 8a
Google also stated at the launch that, pretty soon, Gemini will support Pixel 8a phone which allows you to type in, talk into or upload images from your phone, summarize your ideas and do more.
Additionally, there are other features like Circle to Search, AI powered Pixel Call Assist, Audio Emoji, Magic Editor and Eraser etc. that are claimed to bring ease in user smart phone experience.
